Dear readers--any ideas for baby names? And day 4 of the "Jacob the fisherman" war with my sister.

Once again I am up with contractions at 5am. These are the low key "false" contractions so I don't think we are headed to the hospital today but it does mean baby is on their way! I am so excited. I can't believe we are finally about to meet her! Everyone but me is convinced that they are boy but I am 100% convinced she's a girl.  One thing we don't even have slightly picked out are names yet. With both Abby and TJ we knew their gender so we had names long picked out before we got to know them. It hit me over the weekend that we haven't even really had the discussion. My mother-in-law had the very generous offer that we could name the baby after her--Joyce. Which is a little dated but kind of cute however her idea of the masculine version of Joyce being "Jock" didn't really strike a chord with me--I'm not quite sure why. My family always insists on names that have some sort of connection to Texas history so there's Peggy, Susanna, Mary but all those seem so 18th century. Because of our extended family connection the Comanche tribe my dad always recommends names like Topsanna, Winona, Kai and Nizoni--but I don't know how well those will blend with Abby and TJ. I actually really liked "Jennica" as a way to honor both of my sisters but the people over on r/namenerds really hated that one.

So I would love some thoughts on names! We are about a week before the due date but as much I thought we were going to go the distance, I think we are going to meet new baby any day now. Don't worry little guy, we'll have a name for you!

Yesterday, I kind of felt bad about the blog and even thought about maybe not posting it because I didn't want to hurt my sister's feelings. At the same time there was a part of me that thought there may be a little part of her that is actually proud of the fact that she stole Jacob the fisherman away from me. As it turns out, she's a lot proud.  My sisters and I almost never email each other (we will call and text each other hundreds of times a day) so it was a total surprise when I woke up to an email from hotmail account my sister has had probably since she was 10 years old with the subject line "remember this?"

Here's a cut and paste of the email (and yes, her petname for me has always been "Scummy"--long story).

"Hey Scummy, loved the blogs. I went on a youtube binge last night and found this this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCSTQpBwqqs. I remember that love at first sight feeling like it was yesterday. The look on little Dani's face when she realizes what's happening is pretty funny, wouldn't you agree? Do you know that I actually sprayed perfume on my cleavage as I was getting ready to go fishing with you guys? Dirty trick I know. Oh well, alls fair when it comes to hot boys right? Have a nice day Scums. Let's text or facetime today about when you want us to come out. Dad said he get can give us airline miles so I think we can make a reservation at the last minute  but we may decide to drive. Love you."

So yes, she is still quite proud of herself. And yes she is exactly correct, the look on poor Reese Witherspoon's face as Court not only forgets about her but actually pushes her out of the way is the exact same look I had on my face when Jacob the fisherman threw a piece of fish at me and said "you know how to bait a hook! I'm busy!" as he went back to having his hands on my sister's waist helping her get her line out.

Nice shot Jenn. Very nice. So to add to my request about baby names--does anyone have a sure fire way about how to hide a body and get away with it? Just curious.

  2. Got to ask, are these tariff wars affecting Craig's work?

    1. That is kind of a sore subject right now (though don't get me wrong, I'm happy to vent and not bad of you to ask). So in theory--he was supposed to have been moved out of the division that dealt with Asian manufacturing (and away from the boss I could not stand and would spit on if I were to ever meet him in real life) but because he is one of people who is an expert and things are so chaotic right now he's been temporarily reassigned back to his old boss for about 50% of his day. Which has turned out to be way more than 50% so he's had to work really long hours this week. And I'm about to pop and his all his old boss said was "oh tell her congrats for me!" instead of "oh my god please do what you need to do and then get home to your wife!" So by extension, the trade tariffs are having a huge effect on us and that's even before we ask Bubs about what's happened to our stocks and such.

    2. No problem for your president friends though. They sure know when to buy and sell...

I found my husband's blog post that made us reddit "famous"--one year ago today. Here it is (with my comments).

I think we are having a baby today--getting this all out now so we can go the hospital in peace.
